Dear friends
Our top priority in the coming year is to continue working with the Town of Highland Beach on the structural restoration of the Douglass House. With funding from the African American Heritage Preservation Program, we will rebuild the foundational pillars, replace the porch decking, and complete critical restoration on the second floor.
These improvements will enable us to welcome more visitors and, ultimately, open our doors to the public on a regular basis.

Museum renovation updates
The Museum is also expanding its leadership. Several new board members have joined us, bringing renewed energy and expertise to strategic planning, fundraising, programming, and governance. Their dedication ensures that we continue to grow responsibly and operate with best practices in mind.

With your help this year, we will:
-
Organize and digitize the Museum’s extensive archives, making our history more accessible and bringing to life the stories of our ancestors and our community through new exhibits.
-
Continue to host inspiring programs, such as our recent Juneteenth poetry celebration, which honored the enduring impact of Frederick Douglass and uplifted both our community and our youth.
All of this important work depends on your continued partnership. Operational and administrative support are essential to ensure that the Museum remains a thriving center of learning, reflection, and inspiration.
